Sheffield is home to one of the largest steel industries in the world. The city is also famous
for its manufacturing of cutlery. The city was host to the 1991 world student games which now means
we have world class sports facilities. Sheffield is also home to the largest shopping complex in Europe,
Meadowhall. The city centre is currently undergoing a huge change in the form of the EC funded
"Heart of the City" project.
From the M1 Motorway exit at Junction 33 onto SHEFFIELD PARKWAY, city centre is 6 miles. At PARK SQUARE (recognisable with mini Tyne Bridge over it) go right around the island onto to EXCHANGE PLACE (center lane) through traffic lights onto the one way system onto A57 CASTLEGATE (Center lane) right at traffic lights onto THE WICKER(in left hand lane) through the traffic lights at NURSERY STREET Junction and STANLEY STREET is second on the left at another set of traffic lights. The Unit HQ is about 75 yards on the left at the corner of STANLEY STREET and JOINER STREET. From the end of THE PARKWAY it should take no longer than five or six minutes to get to the Unit HQ

It may seem as though Sheffield is not an ideal choice for a Sea Cadet unit but
that is far from true. Our waterborne activities take place at a nearby reservoir,
Dam Flask, which is about 15 minutes drive away. Here we have our own boat house which
stores our sailing and rowing boats plus all of the safety equipment needed as well as providing changing
facilities for cadets.
