Q3. DO CADETS EVER GO TO SEA?

3. Yes, they do. We used to go to sea on our affiliated ship HMS Sheffield but there will be other occasions when cadets will be able to go to sea on other Royal Navy ships, or visit a ship when docked at Hull.
Apart from that there are several sea going vessels owned by the Corps - TS Royalist, a square rigger, TS John Jerwood a fleet tender and two 35 foot yachts - TS City Liveryman and TS Vigilant. The latter being Tradewind 35 type boats.
Costs involved vary as to which vessel your child will be sailing on.
The Corps also has an affiliation with the Sail Training Association from which sponsorships are available from time to time.
When we were affiliated to HMS Sheffield, cadets with an Instructor, on occasion flew out to Cyprus to join the ship, which was usually on the way home from the Persian Gulf, for a fourteen day trip back to the UK, usually calling at a foreign port for a few days.
The cadets worked the daily routine of the ship.
