10. HOW DO I KNOW THAT MY CHILD WILL BE SAFE IF HE JOINS THE SEA CADETS?

10. This is a question that all parents want to ask but often don't.
The Sea Cadet Corps, although a registered charity, is overseen by the Ministry of Defence and we also come within the terms of the Protection of Children Act.
You can be rest assured that all adult applicants to become an instructor in the Corps, are thoroughly vetted before being permitted to join.
With regard to external activities, sailing, power boating, pulling, canoeing, adventurous training etc, these activities cannot take place without fully qualified Instructors being present. The required numbers of qualified adults attending depends upon the number of cadets participating.
A safety boat is always present, on the water, during waterborne activities.
A final point on safety of children is that once a parade or weekend has finished, there is always an adult instructor present until the last cadet has left the premises or the vicinity of the premises.
